The soon-to-be bride appeared delighted with the unusual proposal

A man has caused a storm on social media after proposing to his now-fiancée during an EasyJet flight.

The unnamed man got down on one knee to his partner while standing outside the toilets during the flight, which was travelling to Spain.

Passenger Nicki Gunner recorded the mid-flight proposal and shared it to his TikTok account (@nickigunner), writing, ‘Nothing beats an East Jet proposal outside the toilets on a flight to Benidorm.’

Nicki recorded the smiling man, dressed in a white shirt and denim shorts, as he held his partner’s hands in his and popped the question.

There was a brief interruption as one person tried to get out of the toilet, but they quickly backed away after they spotted what was about to happen

His fiancée appeared delighted with the proposal and said yes before her would-be husband placed the engagement ring on her hand for the first time.

The passengers, who had a clear view of the proposal due to it taking place at the top of the aisleway and by the toilets, quickly erupted into cheers, marking a happy start to the couple’s holiday.

Shortly after, the EasyJet cabin crew made an announcement that one might expect to hear on a birthday, wishing them ‘Many happy returns’.

Nicki’s video quickly racked up over one million views in two days, with people taking to the comment section to share their thoughts on the proposal.

The reception was mixed, with many questioning why he would pick the unique proposal location. One questioned, ‘Why not wait until you were in Benidorm?’

Another agreed, asking, ‘Why didn’t he propose at the destination.’ A third took a harsher stance, writing, ‘I’d be questioning my life choices.’

However, others took a different view, one said, ‘Just let them enjoy life, we don’t know the backstory…could have met on a plane, could be that is when he knew he loved her. People are so sad to put these people down for what they are doing.’

Another added, ‘Omg, leave them alone, not everyone can afford all the singing, all dancing, flowers raining from above proposal, good luck to them and congratulations, may you have many years of happiness.’

It comes after a woman was left with second-hand embarrassment after watching holidaymakers race for sunbeds in Lanzarote.

Rachael, 28, from the northeast of England, was sitting on her balcony before the swimming pool at the Barcelo hotel in Playa Blanca opened at 7am.

But while she was enjoying the early hours from her room, others in the hotel had a different idea and stood waiting to get their sunbeds.
