After stoppage due to Covid-19 pandemic, the cargo airline is back in the skies over Findel, connecting the country with the US and China.

American cargo airline Atlas Air has resumed flights from Luxembourg after halting operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cargo airline has been taking off from Findel four times a week since the beginning of this month, after reportedly stopping flights following the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.

The airline’s Boeing 777F, which only entered service in April this year, flies twice a week to Huntsville, Alabama, in the US and twice a week to Zhengzhou, China.

It means there are now several cargo carriers operating between Luxembourg and China, with Cargolux and Chinese state-owned China Postal also running flights between the two countries.

Atlas Air offers worldwide charter flights for commercial goods and special cargo such as heavy machinery and hazardous goods.

The airline put the last 747-8 series aircraft manufactured by Boeing into service at the beginning of 2023. The US aircraft manufacturer had discontinued production of the jet in 2022 after more than half a century.
