Emirates has reached an agreement with aircraft investor Stratos to purchase a leased Airbus A380-800 at the conclusion of its term in 2027.

The Airbus A380, registered A6-EOO, joinedĀ EmiratesĀ on lease in September 2015, and to date has completed nearly 5,000 commercial flights for the carrier.Ā

On October 10, 2025, Stratos said that the company would ā€œforward sell its sole-managed A380-800″ to Emirates.

ā€œWe are delighted to have worked with Emirates to support their long-term fleet requirements. This transaction reaffirms our ability to continue to support our airline partners and deliver best-in-class asset management services to our institutional partners,ā€ said Cian O’Shea, Marketing Director at Stratos.

The transaction with Emirates was agreed on behalf of a group of Asia-based institutional investors. The long-term lease deal was originally structured by Stratos in 2015.

ā€œThis deal underscores Stratos’ expertise in underwriting and managing high-value aviation assets and facilitating complex end-of-lease transactions in collaboration with leading global airlines,ā€ a Stratos spokesperson said.

As Gulf carriers raise the bar of inflight service and beef up their fleets with newer and bigger aircraft that can fly longer distances, the centre of gravity in the aviation industry could shift from Asia to the Middle East, analysts said 26 February 2006. They added: ā€œThe company’s team worked closely with Emirates to ensure a smooth transition, supporting the carrier’s long-term fleet strategy and operational requirements.ā€

In its current configuration, according toĀ ch-aviation, A6-EOO seats 429 passengers in economy, 76 in business and 14 in first class.Ā

Data fromĀ FlightAwareĀ states the aircraft last flew on August 19, 2025, on a flight from Milan to Dubai.Ā

According to ch-aviation, Emirates currently has 93 Airbus A380-800s in active service, with 25 marked as inactive.
