Manchester Airport has announced the latest airline to move to Terminal 2 as the £1.3billion transformation programme nears completion.

Luxair, which offers a direct link between Manchester and Luxembourg, will move to Terminal 2 on September 22. The airport said that the airline will directly contact passengers to confirm details.

It’s the latest airline to move to the new-look terminal, which is set to be complete by the end of the year.

The 10-year, £1.3billion transformation plan of Terminal 2 will see it double in size once completed.

An extension to the terminal opened in 2021 and the airport is now in the final stages of overhauling the original Terminal 2 building to bring it up to the same standard as the extension, mirroring the modern look and feel.

More than 70 per cent of the airport’s passengers will use the new facilities and Terminal 1 is set to close when the project is completed later this year.

Further shops and restaurants are expected to open in the coming months – including Chanel, Grindsmith by WH Smith, a Fever Tree cocktail and champagne bar, and the Great Northern Market – a food court with a selection of street food options.

There will be 40 per cent more seating, a new extra with more space and facilities, brand new security equipment, and new shops and places to eat and drink, including a brand new sports bar named Sporting Chance.
