American Airlines has reached a major fleet milestone, taking delivery of its 1,000th mainline aircraft — a Boeing 787-9 featuring the airline’s new Flagship Suite® premium cabin. The jet arrived at Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) on August 29, 2025.

Since April, American has added eight 787-9s and has 30 on order, deploying them on routes such as Chicago–London Heathrow, Chicago–Los Angeles, and Philadelphia–London Heathrow. Starting later this year, Flagship Suite® service will expand to flights from DFW to London, as well as long-haul destinations including Auckland, Brisbane, Buenos Aires, and Zurich.

The Flagship Suite® product offers privacy doors, chaise lounge seating, wireless charging, premium bedding, and elevated dining, reinforcing American’s focus on delivering a more premium customer experience as it looks toward its next century.
