United Airlines has announced today that tickets for its new elevated Polaris cabin on the Boeing 787-9 are now on sale, with the first flights set to take off from next month between San Francisco and Singapore. This marks the inaugural international flight of UA1, which will depart with the new cabins from April 22.

Star Alliance carrier United has unveiled the most premium heavy international aircraft in its history, which, since last May when the prototype was first unveiled, has wowed potential travelers with its elevated interior. This aircraft has been reimagined with a nose-to-tail layout of 99 premium seats, making it the highest among all US carriers. The newly delivered aircraft, registered N21102, is expected to be scheduled for commercial flights soon.

On April 22, the new aircraft interior will make its debut on the airline’s flagship route between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). The daily non-stop flight covers more than 8,440 miles (13,590 kilometers), and United operates alongside Singapore Airlines on the route.

The newly designed 787-9 is scheduled to operate several domestic rotations in the lead-up to its first international service to Singapore, and customers lucky enough to experience the product will find the aircraft operating domestic routes between San Francisco and Houston in preparation for long-haul deployment. Andrew Nocella, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at United, explains:

“The new era of premium air travel is coming soon with our first Elevated aircraft taking flight next month. Our new aircraft redefines international long-haul flying, providing travelers upgraded amenities and experiences in every cabin. We’re constantly pioneering new ways to differentiate our customers’ experience in every seat, and we’re confident they will love it.”

Introducing The New United Polaris Studio

The newly designed interior features the airline’s new United Polaris Studio suite, which consists of eight unique lie-flat, all-aisle-access seats that are on average 25% larger than the current United Polaris seat. Additionally, new privacy doors enable passengers to close themselves away from the world. At the same time, an extra ottoman seat allows guests to come for a bite, meet in the sky, or enjoy a cocktail at 30,000 feet.

Exclusive entrée options, including an Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche service, will be on offer, while enhanced amenity kits with skincare product sets set the standard for the new suites. Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging, alongside a 27-inch 4K OLED seatback screen, set the benchmark for the largest onboard entertainment screen now offered by US airlines.

While the first international service will depart for Singapore late next month, the next international route to see the newly configured airplane will be between San Francisco and London Heathrow Airport (LHR), operating as UA901 from April 30. United has yet to announce which additional international routes will feature this new elevated aircraft.
