United Airlines is set to resume service to Thailand for the first time in over a decade, becoming the first U.S. national carrier to do so. The airline will launch daily direct flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), with a stopover in Hong Kong (HKG), beginning October 26, 2025. The inaugural flight departs Los Angeles on October 24 and arrives in Bangkok on October 26.
This route marks United’s return to Thailand after suspending service in March 2014—more than 11 years ago. Delta Air Lines was the last U.S. national airline to operate flights to Thailand, ending its service on October 30, 2014.
United will operate this route using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering passengers a comfortable and modern long-haul experience. While the flights make a stop in Hong Kong, they retain the same flight number from origin to destination, which classifies them as direct flights under industry standards. This is different from a non-stop flight, which would not include any stopovers.
