Vietjet recently received its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft under the airline’s US$32 billion order for 200 Boeing jets, marking a significant step in its market-based fleet standardization strategy aimed at enhancing its operational efficiency and supporting its sustainable growth as an international aviation group.

The new aircraft arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport (Bangkok) and is the first in a batch of 50 Boeing jets scheduled for delivery to Vietjet Thailand from now until 2028. This addition strengthens the airline’s operational capacity, supporting growing travel demand and enabling further expansion across key destinations in the Asia–Pacific region.

Dedicated to Vietjet Thailand, the first 737-8 will enter service on the airline’s domestic Bangkok–Chiang Mai route, followed by its international Bangkok–Cam Ranh route in December 2025, before supporting further network expansion to Japan, South Korea, and China in early 2026. In Vietnam, Vietjet continues to operate its Airbus fleet. With extensive experience in next-generation aircraft operations and a strong global partner ecosystem, Vietjet is expanding its international network through major aviation hubs across Asia–Pacific, while steadily progressing toward future routes to Europe and the Americas.

The Boeing 737-8 incorporates advanced aerodynamics and new-generation LEAP-1B engines, offering full compatibility with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and achieving up to 15–20% reductions in carbon emissions and up to 50% lower noise levels in compliance with ICAO standards. With a maximum range of 6,570 kilometers, the aircraft provides extended flight capability and access to further destinations. Its Boeing Sky Interior features a brighter, quieter, and more spacious cabin, with larger overhead storage bins, ensuring passengers enjoy a comfortable and engaging journey.

Vietjet’s order for 200 Boeing aircraft is among the key agreements contributing to balanced Vietnam–U.S. trade. The modern fleet will continue to support Vietjet’s goals of driving aviation and economic growth in the region, creating long-term value for investors, and delivering safe, high-quality, and memorable journeys to millions of passengers worldwide.

United Airlines is set to resume service to Thailand for the first time in over a decade, becoming the first U.S. national carrier to do so. The airline will launch daily direct flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), with a stopover in Hong Kong (HKG), beginning October 26, 2025. The inaugural flight departs Los Angeles on October 24 and arrives in Bangkok on October 26.

This route marks United’s return to Thailand after suspending service in March 2014—more than 11 years ago. Delta Air Lines was the last U.S. national airline to operate flights to Thailand, ending its service on October 30, 2014.

United will operate this route using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering passengers a comfortable and modern long-haul experience. While the flights make a stop in Hong Kong, they retain the same flight number from origin to destination, which classifies them as direct flights under industry standards. This is different from a non-stop flight, which would not include any stopovers.

Flight Schedule (effective October 26, 2025):

Los Angeles (LAX) – Hong Kong (HKG) – Bangkok (BKK)

• Flight UA820

Departs Los Angeles at 11:15 AM

Arrives in Hong Kong at 7:00 AM (two days later)

Departs Hong Kong at 9:20 AM

Arrives in Bangkok at 11:25 AM (two days after initial departure)

Operates daily

Bangkok (BKK) – Hong Kong (HKG) – Los Angeles (LAX)

• Flight UA821

Departs Bangkok at 4:55 PM

Arrives in Hong Kong at 8:45 PM

Departs Hong Kong at 10:45 PM

Arrives in Los Angeles at 8:25 PM (same day, local time)

Operates daily

Note: Flight times are based on the winter schedule starting October 26. Slight time variations may occur during the summer schedule (October 24–25), and adjustments will be made after November 3 when Daylight Saving Time ends in California.

With this launch, United Airlines re-establishes a vital air link between the U.S. and Thailand, offering travelers a convenient and consistent daily option for travel between the two countries.
