On 25 March, an aircraft operated by Ariana Afghan Airlines veered off the runway while landing at Kabul International Airport, prompting an emergency evacuation. All passengers and crew were reported safe.
The Boeing 737-400 (registration YA-PIC), operating flight FG312, touched down on Runway 29 in rainy conditions before skidding off the paved surface and coming to a stop on the grass. The aircraft sustained damage to its left wing during the excursion.
Passengers and crew were evacuated using emergency slides shortly after the aircraft came to a halt. According to the airline, all occupants were safely transferred to the terminal, and no injuries were reported.
In an official statement, the airline confirmed that the aircraft was brought to a safe stop following the incident and that emergency technical teams have launched an investigation to determine the cause. Early indications point to wet runway conditions as a possible contributing factor.
Ariana Afghan Airlines added that such incidents can occur in global aviation operations and reiterated that passenger safety remains its top priority, pledging to take any necessary measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The aircraft remains off the runway, although airport operations were not significantly impacted.
