EgyptAir has reached a new level of in-flight engagement and connectivity (IFEC) with the entry into service of its Airbus A350-900 aircraft equipped with Panasonic Avionics digital solutions. The wide-body deployment marks an important step in the airline’s plan to improve the passenger experience through upgraded entertainment options, interactive digital features, and better global internet access. By installing next-generation IFEC systems throughout the cabin, the airline looks to offer a more personalized and connected journey for travelers.
Advancing Passenger Engagement Through Integrated Digital Platforms
The aircraft’s in-flight entertainment (IFE) environment incorporates Panasonic Avionics’ Astrova system in business class and the NEXT seatback platform in economy class. Astrova delivers cinema-quality visuals through 4K OLED HDR10+ displays, along with high-quality audio through both Bluetooth and wired headset connectivity. The system also includes 67W USB-C charging, allowing passengers to quickly power laptops and other personal electronic devices. In economy, the NEXT system gives travelers easy access to entertainment and in-flight services through high-resolution 4K seatback screens and wireless audio support, helping create a smoother and more consistent digital experience across the cabin.
“We are confident that this powerful new combination of hardware, apps, services and connectivity will drive deeper loyalty, unlock new ancillary revenue opportunities, and enhance operational performance for EgyptAir.”

Connectivity remains a key component of the digital passenger experience onboard Egyptair’s A350 fleet. Panasonic Avionics’ global Ku-band satellite network enables in-flight internet access designed to support continuous engagement throughout the travel journey. Travelers can message, browse online services, and interact with onboard digital platforms from departure to arrival, supporting the wider industry shift toward smoother, more connected end-to-end travel experiences.
Engagement Tools Designed to Increase Flexibility, Revenue
With the take-off of its A350-900, EgyptAir has become the first airline in the world to deploy Panasonic Avionics’ Modular Interactive (MI) platform, launched in 2022, as part of a fully integrated in-flight engagement ecosystem. The cloud-based authoring and publishing tool allows airlines to create and update onboard digital experiences much faster, avoiding the long development timelines common with older interactive content. Using Modular Interactive Studio, airline teams can easily adjust branding, screen layouts, apps, and service features on their own, giving them more flexibility to keep up with evolving passenger expectations.
Panasonic Avionics’ digital engagement solutions also extend into onboard commerce. As such, EgyptAir’s A350-900 also includes an onboard Marketplace shopping platform that lets passengers browse and buy products through the in-flight system. The e-commerce capability is designed to give the airline new ways to generate extra revenue while also encouraging more interaction with its services during the flight.
“The integration of the Astrova and NEXT systems on our A350-900 ensures that every traveler, whether in business or economy class, enjoys world-class connectivity and cinema-quality visuals.“

Industry-Leading Moving Maps to Entertain Young and Old
A central feature of the new onboard experience is Panasonic Avionics’ Arc 3D interactive flight map platform. Unlike traditional flight maps, it offers high-quality graphics, easy navigation, and a more immersive way to follow the journey. With the Arc Vistas feature, passengers can enjoy cinematic, real-time views of the world through advanced 3D visuals on the Astrova display, either exploring the map interactively or watching it in a more relaxed background mode.
EgyptAir has also introduced the ‘Arc for Young Explorers’ feature, an interactive map interface tailored to younger travelers. The experience uses themed visuals and animated educational content to help children follow the journey and learn about the regions the aircraft is flying over. By combining entertainment with learning, the airline hopes to create a more family-friendly in-flight experience, especially on long-haul flights.
“We are proud to introduce a new era of in-flight comfort and entertainment for our passengers. The integration of the Astrova and NEXT systems on our A350-900 ensures that every traveler, whether in business or economy class, enjoys world-class connectivity and cinema-quality visuals. From the immersive 3D maps for adults to the ‘Young Explorers’ experience for our junior travelers, we are committed to making every EGYPTAIR flight a memorable one,” said EgyptAir Chairman and CEO Captain Ahmed Adel.
“By combining our industry leading applications and services with our award-winning IFE platforms and global connectivity, we will deliver a consistent, personalized passenger journey from pre-flight through arrival. We are confident that this powerful new combination of hardware, apps, services and connectivity will drive deeper loyalty, unlock new ancillary revenue opportunities, and enhance operational performance for EgyptAir,” said Panasonic Avionics VP Digital Solutions Andrew Mohr.
