Air India Express Boeing 737 Max suffers nose wheel damage at Phuket
An Air India Express Boeing 737 Max aircraft suffered a nose wheel damage after a suspected hard landing at Phuket airport in Thailand on Wednesday morning.
No one was hurt in the incident. The airport’s only runway was shut following the incident resulting in several flight diversions.
The aircraft (VT BWQ) was operating flight IX 938 from Hyderabad. According to Thai media there were 133 passengers and 7 crew members on board.
According to a DGCA official, the aircraft was stuck on the runway as both nose wheels got detached. Subsequently passengers were deplaned and the aircraft was towed to the parking bay.
International Civil Aviation Organisation norms have laid down procedures of accident or incident investigation and since this incident occured in Thailand the probe would be carried out by an appropriate authority after consultation with Thai government, he added.
“We confirm that our Hyderabad-Phuket flight on 11 March experienced an issue with the nose wheel at Phuket Airport. The crew followed all standard protocols, and guests were deplaned. We thank our guests, the Phuket airport authorities, and all stakeholders for their cooperation,” an Air India Express spokesperson said.
