A new Flagship lounge will open at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, American Airlines announced on August 28. The upscale space marks the sixth such facility in the company’s system. Plans also include an expansion of the current Admirals Club.
“Charlotte is incredibly important to American’s network,” said Ralph Lopez, American’s Senior Vice President of CLT Operations, according to The Street. “We serve millions of customers as they travel through CLT, and we’re excited to continue to elevate their experience when traveling with us.”
Guests will receive a welcome glass of champagne upon arrival. The menu features dishes crafted by selected chefs. Premium shower suites, work stations, and a dedicated family space round out the amenities.
Charlotte stands as the carrier’s second-largest base, with flights to 170 destinations across 27 countries. The Texas-based company maintains 15,500 staff at CLT, including workers from its regional arm, PSA Airlines.
“As an airline, we’re committed to meeting the needs of our customers, and we’re excited to continue to invest in our lounges at CLT,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, per WCNC.
This May saw the debut of a Philadelphia Flagship lounge. At 25,000 square feet, it showcases regional artwork, premium dining, and secluded workspaces. Similar facilities operate at Chicago O’Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and Miami.
A quick-service spot called Provisions by Admirals Club launched near Gate A1 on August 19. The 2,000-square-foot space offers grab-and-go meals with limited seating for rushed travelers.
Access to the new Flagship lounge requires AAdvantage Platinum status or above. Single visits cost $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles. Admirals Club entry comes with membership, qualifying status, or the Citi AAdvantage Executive card. Day passes run $79 or 7,900 miles
